Wellspring's Fantastic Food
You will love the food at Wellspring! During your weight loss vacation, you'll learn a simple, scientific, and sustainable way of eating that you'll enjoy continuing at home. The secret is the way that we prepare food, using low-fat cooking methods that preserve all the flavor and texture of your favorite foods, without the unnecessary fat and calories.
Specifically, Wellspring's healthy eating approach includes:
Reducing fat: The delicious foods you'll enjoy at Wellspring will contain less than 20 g. of fat. per day (less than ¼ of what the average American consumes).
Reducing caloric-density of food: With more fruits, vegetables, soups, stews and other foods with higher water content, you'll feel satisfied while taking in fewer calories.
Increasing protein and fiber: Both contribute to satiety and overall health without adding calories.
What Will I Eat at Wellspring?
Everyday you'll enjoy three meals and two snacks served in our on-campus dining hall. Entrees include satisfying favorites like pasta with meat sauce, baked chicken tenders, turkey burgers, grilled salmon, and enchiladas. We also serve two snacks each day, in the afternoon and in the evening. These are healthy low-fat, low-density snacks such as Weight Watchers ice cream bars, fruit, fat-free brownies, and other treats. And in our culinary and nutrition classes, you'll learn how to recreate many of the low-fat entrees and snacks you've enjoyed during your vacation.
In addition to the portioned entrees, you'll have unlimited access to our “uncontrolled food” bar, which includes salads, soups, fat-free cottage cheese, tuna, yogurt, fresh fruit, and raw veggies. You're welcome to eat from the uncontrolled food bar until you're satisfied, as long as you self-monitor (write down) everything that you eat.
